Engineering tools for hydraulic and overtopping checks
This prototype explores how locked-down Excel tools with deterministic outputs can be rebuilt as clearer, more interactive web applications without changing their underlying logic. The aim is to preserve established calculation workflows while making inputs, outputs, and sensitivities easier to inspect.
It does not replace the source methodology, professional engineering judgement, formal design checks, independent review, or project-specific verification. It is best understood as a prototype for translating deterministic spreadsheet models into more usable interfaces.
Reservoir flood routing model
Route an idealised flood hydrograph through a reservoir using a simplified Chapter 4 level-pool approach, with spillway discharge, storage, and peak level checks.
Overtopping discharge dashboard
Assess wave overtopping discharge, required freeboard, reduction factors, and suggested protection limits using the methodology described in Floods and Reservoir Safety.
Pipe flow calculator
Calculate steady-state pipe velocity and discharge using Darcy-Weisbach and Colebrook-White, with live charts and a pipe profile schematic.
